Trash Days and a Dreamy Autumn “Anyway” Haze

Hey. Hi. Good Morning.

It’s a gorgeous fall morning, and unusually crisp in our house. We turned the heat off yesterday and left the windas open for quite a while, which cooled the place down to a nice round 65 degrees.  I am a huge fan of chilly overcast mornings, especially on the weekends.  I’m not sure why, so much, concerning the overcast part, but I think it’s because it brings the stigma of laziness being OK.  And even though yesterday was a little gloomy, it was a a pretty productive day at our house (at least for me.  some people coughCharlescough slept til 11 AM and then had 2 lunches).

I spent the majority of my Saturday morning lugging crap out of our basement to set on the curb for heavy trash pick up day.  This is quite typically one of my favorite weeks of year.  Charles and I like to take bets  on how LONG an object will sit on the curb before someone comes and nabs it.  We used to have an awful gold chandelier in our dining room….kinda like this one

We set the carcass on the curb and as we were walking back to the house, we no sooner took an over-under bet, than turned around and it had vanished.  Out of sight, and the taker nowhere to be found. I hope you hung it somewhere lovely, bro.  We also got rid of an old fridge once and saw the “treasure-seeker” BEAR HUG the whole damn thing onto the back of a trailer by himself.  That’s commitment.

Anyway, I was aiming to get to the gym yesterday but i figured that lugging several armfuls of trash up the stairs and outside would be exercise enough.  You might be curious what types of trash we are hoarding downstairs.  It was really a lot of old paint cans from various projects, drop ceiling panels that the old owners left here for us 6 years ago, etc.  Nothing crazy.  We don’t collect feces or keep all of our fast food trash.

I was also able to put up some Fall decor.  Look at that dogwood tree out front. It’s already changing and is so gorgeous with it’s burgundy hues.

Dogwood trees are my absolute fave.  They are gorgeous almost the whole year through.  The tree pictured above has beautiful pink blossoms in the spring time.  It has a “friend” (BOB ROSS Y’ALL) in the other side of our front yard that has exquisite white blossoms.  I will miss these guys come time to move out of this little loveshack.

Anyway.

Charles and I spent the rest of the day perusing consignment shops and antique stores for an old dresser that we want to paint/restore for the baby’s room.  We found some viable options but I’m probably being TOO picky and need to make up my mind. I so desperately want the nursery to LOOK and feel a certain way, (the “Pinterest gods threw up in here” sort of way) that I’m waiting for the perfect piece to jump out at me. It  needs to double as a changing table, so the height and width are also factoring in.

It was so chilly all day yesterday, and I was pumped to break out my Hunter boots for the first time.  I’ve been wanting a pair of these gems for years and finally decided to spoil myself.

Thug Life.  I actually felt cute in this outfit, which is kind of a rarity lately with my ever-burgeoning belly. I mean…for reals:

That was taken this past Wednesday evening, and i will STILL tell you that my belly gets bigger as the day progresses and then somehow “deflates” a bit by time morning rolls around.  This has been happening since around 13 weeks and is apparently typical with water, bloating, etc.  I’m not whining.  I understand the beauty and importance of a growing pregnant belly.  I just get weird about my body, ok?  Probably stems from the fact that I’ve been 5’11” since I was 12 years old, and it took a long time for me to mentally catch up to my size (balance issues).

LAST night we went to the museum with Lindsey, her boyfriend Joshua, and some other friends to watch Back to the Future in the planetarium.  This is the 30th anniversary for that movie, and the museum decided to show it this month because those dudes TIME TRAVEL to October 2015 in the sequel!  Hate to disappoint ya, Marty McFly…but there are no hover crafts around these parts.  We went out for some Italian fare and drinks after the movie, and it was a really nice time, filled with no picture-taking.  I promise to get better.

Anyway, that’s the weekend in a nutshell.  This week, my parents are coming down for a visit and I plan on making a Paleo quiche among some other Paleo-friendly snax. It’s my goal to get those recipes posted with some sub par iphone photog to marry up to them.

I hope you and yours are enjoying your October thus far!

Smooches.
